Nordic crime unit // DO NOT CROSS //
Nordic crime unit // DO NOT CROSS //
The long story short
The NCU is a realistic detective whodunit series. Inspired by real events of violent crimes committed in the Nordic countries past twenty years. It ́s in procedural form, one case one episode.
Big changes have occurred in the Nordic countries in past decades. They used to be the safest countries to visit because of low crime rate! The society and culture is changing in each country. There is more of organized crime and other violent acts are increasing.
This calls for a drastic solution. The formation of the NCU. A unit of hardened crime scene investigators is formed to tackle the most difficult crime scenes, across borders and jurisdiction. Each member of the unit has a special skills and experience in dealing with the most extreme crime scenes.
The NCU has access all areas from top government directors meaning they can cross every border within the Nordic countries and do their work. It both creates relief of the local police but also envy and possible conflicts.

THE SETTING
The various crime scenes will bring the NCU to different locations. Big cities like Oslo or Copenhagen but mostly the beautiful landscape and special characteristics of the Nordic countries, the nature and wilderness, small towns and farms. The NCU is a mobile unit that crosses all borders within Scandinavia. The setting will reveal the magnificent nature and culture in these countries. There are not many main locations so it will be cost effective for the production.

Aesthetics
Briefs on the project’s creative direction.
-
Style, color and the mood of the tv series. Like the movie Seven, The Bridge (Broen) or Fargo (the TV series). Very visual take and the use of drones to capture beautiful landscapes.
-
A nice balance between wide shots of scenes to classic take on our team working. The use of arial work is also important because the nature of the Nordic countries is like a real character in the series.
-
We want it to be as close to old traditional Nordic old music. Using old instruments and classic ones. Including the throat singing wish is a cultural thing in Greenland. That will give the audience an enthantic feel to the series and its origin.
